Yusra

Yusra started the interview jokingly, saying, “too many cooks do not spoil the broth; on the contrary, they give it more flavor.” Yusra, who resides in Jordan, is a Syrian mother of 7 and a proud grandmother of 24 grandchildren.

After taking Jordan as a sanctuary after fleeing from Syria, Yusra started to plan a project that would be a source of income for her and her big family. Her husband put his experience and knowledge in the culinary business into use, where they rented a small restaurant. Their humble restaurant that sells different kinds of chicken meals now supports this big family of 35

Yusra obtained funding from Microfund for Women, which allowed her to buy the necessary equipment for the restaurant, such as the chicken frying machine. She plans to grow her business to support her family more and improve their financial and social status.

Yusra now serves many different meal choices. Her loyal customers come by almost daily to enjoy these meals in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Yusra added that she would not settle down for just this restaurant. Instead, she plans to expand her business and buy a bigger restaurant to serve more delicious food.
