They were different factors that led Basma to establish her project, such as the lack of jobs in Al-Kuraymah, the bad economic situation, and her desire to help her husband provide for their family and cover the ever-increasing expenses.

Basma approached MFW to make this happen and she received the support and financing needed to buy a big oven and the raw material needed to begin her project of making pastries for school kids and meals for the teachers in nearby schools.

Ever since she started, her family’s financial situation improved, and they support her by taking care of house chores, especially during high seasons.

Basma did not back down in the face of the obstacles like her family’s opposition to the idea and the difficulty of managing the project. Still, on the contrary, this made her push for it, and she succeeded in trusting in herself and abilities and creating an extra source of income for her family.

Regarding dealing with MFW, she said: “I had a smooth experience, and received constant support from MFW’s employees. I was able to prove myself through MFW.”

Basma, who’s always smiling, went on telling us about her dream of having a big and independent productive kitchen with the capacity to serve the whole district. She also wants to tell every woman in her neighborhood to “prove yourself through a small project of your won.”
